In addition to my Resident Assistant work, I’m a huge gamer and will post video game reviews and Grand Valley Tournament information here!
Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are not only my favorite video games, but they’re one of the top selling video games franchises of all time. The two are a remake of two Pokémon games released first in 2000 for the Gameboy Color, then a decade later these
remade remastered games were released for the Nintendo DS. Nostalgic reasons aside, HG is my favorite for many reasons. The first is customization. There are almost 500 Pokémon now, and these games allow you to choose six of them at a time and travel around a huge region catching, battling and playing with your pocket monsters. HG is kool because the first Pokémon in your party walks around with you, allowing you to interact with them in a variety of ways. There is a day/night cycle that matches our actual clock, making the gameplay always match the actual environment. The highlight of HG is that in includes two regions to explore (all others are just one) and you can obtain 16 badges (others only allowed 8). The Battle Frontier and Pokéthon and also awesome additions, including the fact that you can trade and battle with friends with the game–or do co-op battles. I’ve clocked 685+ hours thus far into my HG since March 2010, and will keep on playing until Pokémon White 2 is released this fall.
